Special events are always hold at metropolises, like Bangkok. There is a method to manage traffic for the events, but it needs strong supports from metropolitan administration, as well as regional planning organisations.
During March 30th to April 1st, 2007, Bangkok traffic problem was very severe because there were three special events being launched at the same time: Red Cross Fair at Ratdamnern Road, Book Fair at Sirikit National Conference Center, and Motor Show 2007 at Maung Tong Tani. Furthermore, it was the end of the month which the traffic is always in bad condition and it was also Chinese ancestor's Memorial day, too. The question is how the planning organisation allowed these events hold at the same time. The responsible organisation should consider the impacts on traffic conditions from the events. If the culmulative impacts from all events are over transport infrastructure capacity, the responsible organisation have the right to prohibit or alter the schedule of some or all events. Unfortunately, none of government organisation ever exercises their right to prevent and protect the public welfare and public safety.
